Identity
This grape variety, called "Vieux Traminer", has been known for a very long time in Alsace, but has gradually been replaced by a more aromatic and spicy variant... Gewurztraminer! The winegrowers of the village of Heiligenstein (and a few neighboring villages) continue to produce this rare wine, made with the Savagnin Rose grape, which, with its elegance, strength and subtle aromas, is similar to the noble grape varieties of Alsace, such as the great Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.
Winemaking
Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats, followed by aging on fine lees for more than 6 months before bottling.
Eye
Golden yellow and brilliant.
Nose
Complex and slightly spicy aromas.
Palate
Rich and full, with lots of body and honeyed aromas. A heady, full-bodied wine with excellent length.
