Sylvaner

Typical dry wine from Alsace, representative of its terroir
A dry wine from Alsace that is typical and representative of its terroir, Sylvaner remains one of the emblematic grape varieties of the Alsatian vineyard. Remarkably fresh and light, with a discreet fruitiness, Sylvaner also knows how to show a beautiful liveliness.
Sylvaner is adorned with an elegant pale yellow color supported by a distinguished and distinctive nose, with vegetal and floral notes such as acacia or white flowers, even lemony notes, which announce a beautiful freshness in the mouth. On the palate, its lightness, balance and pleasant presence are highly appreciated. Sylvaner can be kept for 3 years, sometimes longer if it comes from noble plots.

An underrated grape variety
Originally from Austria, the Sylvaner grape variety was introduced in Alsace at the end of the 18th century. For a very long time, it represented almost a third of the Alsatian vineyards and had high yields. The wine made from this grape variety had few aromas, was rather thirst-quenching, without any real personality.
Since the 1970s, the Sylvaner grape variety has hardly been planted at all and today represents only about 8% of the Alsatian vineyard. Since the early 2000s, Sylvaner has been making a timid but definite comeback on low-yield plots, with a higher quality production. Sylvaner still has some surprises in store!

The search for authenticity
The Sylvaner grape variety, emblematic of Alsace wine, produces rather dry white wines with liveliness and lightness. Although it has been admitted to the Zotzenberg Grand Cru, Sylvaner, which has an AOC, is mainly present under the Alsace Appellation.
Ideal for family cooking
All Alsatian families know that Sylvaner is the perfect accompaniment to a good old-fashioned sauerkraut. In fact, it is customary to prepare sauerkraut with this light, dry wine and then serve the same wine at the table.
But Sylvaner has more than one trick up its sleeve: its freshness goes wonderfully with seafood for a real gustatory pleasure. A friend of pies, Sylvaner enhances these dishes, especially when they include meat marinated in Sylvaner. Other appetizers can be paired with Sylvaner, such as those based on charcuterie, not to mention the traditional tarte flambée.
Serve between 10 and 12°C.
